SOLD OUT - Workshop: Inside a Recording Session
Saturday 25th May
10am - 4pm
Leeds Beckett University, Studio 2
18+ only
10 free places, register in advance
Ever wondered exactly what goes on behind the closed doors to a studio during a recording session? Or looking for ways to improve your technique at micing up drums, capturing a good live sound, and utilising software to create the sound you want?
Join us on Saturday 25th May in the state of the art Leeds Beckett studios, where Michael Ward will be running a live recording session with the Nika Ticciati Trio to demystify exactly what is going on and what the process looks like. Michael is particularly interested in improvised, free and experimental Jazz, having previously worked with the likes of Matthew Bourne. His ethos is to get everything set up perfectly and to allow the band to just play, capturing this spirit in his takes.
The band in session will be Leeds Conservatoire students Nika Ticciati Piano / Teruki Chan Drums / Mick Bardon Bass
Starting the day early, we’ll go from preparing the space to micing up the instruments, recording live takes, listening back, doing live mixing and more. You’ll be able to get hands on and ask any questions you want. Whether you’ve never recorded a thing in your life, have dabbled on Garageband, are a prolific bedroom producer or just want to know more, this workshop will be appropriate for complete beginners through to more advanced practitioners.
There are 10 free places, so register in advance to ensure your place, and let us know if you can no longer attend. This event is for ages 18+ only.
This project is made possible with public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
