On a whistle-stop musical tour of the globe, the Chapel Allerton Community Orchestra will touch down in Jamaica, India, Brazil, Cuba, South Africa, Ethiopia, The Balkans, Japan, Trinidad, New York and all points between to sample the finest sounds around and deliver them in our own inimitable way; world rhythms with jazz vocabulary, improvisation and celebration. We aim to become a band that anyone can join and everyone can enjoy, via a series of unique and inclusive workshops for adults of all ages, and high school age children. Develop your sense of rhythm and pitch, your ear for melodies and your ability to improvise! Music will be taught both by ear and by original arrangements tailored to the needs of the group. All abilities welcome.
Led by Richard Ormrod, with over 25 years experience teaching all ages and abilities and musical director of both Jam Factory and Dales Jam. Richard is a multi-instrumentalist and writer who has played across the world and composed for many media including the stage, film and dance.
