Alan Barnes is a multi-award winning saxophone and clarinet player and one of the London jazz scene’s perennials, respected educator and virtuoso soloist. Amongst his touring credits are Bryan Ferry, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Warren Vache and Humphrey Lyttleton. He is joined by Leeds based guitarist and arranger Derrick Harris in a sextet tribute to the great jazz legend Benny Goodman.

‘Alan Barnes stylistic range is quite phenomenal… He has a wonderful capacity for suggesting a given style without actually imitating anyone’ - Dave Gelly

Joining Alan Barnes on clarinet and sax are six of the leading jazz musicians in the North of England brought together to play new arrangements of music played by legendary clarinettist Benny Goodman:

Derrick Harris guitar / Mark Chandler trumpet / Andrzej Baranek piano / Munch Manship tenor sax / Jose Canha bass / Paul Smith drums

Featuring many of Goodman’s most famous hits, including Don’t Be That Way, Let’s Dance, Air Mail Special, That’s a Plenty, Soft Winds, Sweet Georgia Brown, King Porter Stomp, and Sing, Sing, Sing, this music has been thrilling audiences both for listening and for dancing.
